Body Language: an exploration of movement and words for dance artists
An exciting and enlightening time was had by all at the Body Language workshop in December!
We began with a lively, pulse-raising and trust-building introduction to contact improvisation with dance artist Ronny Wong, followed by a more mentally invigorating exploration of the interpretation of words with writer N Quentin Woolf. This was then tied together creatively with a choreographic response led by Maddy Wynne-Jones, artistic director of the company. It was an event attended by people from wide-ranging backgrounds, and the chance to learn from sharing with the group in an inclusive and vibrant atmosphere was inspiring in itself.
What participants have been saying:
“I’ve been given new input from the teachers...that I can develop hopefully in the future.”
“The leaders drew out some wonderful expression from people.”
“It’s fantastic to see the breadth of people’s interpretations and share these.”
“The leaders were really approachable, enthusiastic and never patronising or judgemental.”
“I enjoyed the whole package.”
